At The Sports Kartail , we believe in the transformative power of sports and the boundless potential of compassion. Our mission is simple yet profound: To create a positive and lasting impact on communities by harnessing the energy of sports to drive meaningful change.
Participating in sports is a human right, stated in UNESCO’s 1978 Charter for Physical Education and Sports. As a sports-for-development organization, our goal is to offer this opportunity to 100,000 rural children through basketball by 2025.
Rural Indian children lack opportunities to explore potential and develop life skills, leading to a lack of purpose and discipline in their education. This puts them at risk of entering cycles of manual labor or illegal activities. Studies, like one in the Indian Journal of Medical Research (March 2011), show concerning trends, such as 11.2% of adolescents in Noida using tobacco. Historically, rural areas in India faced a scarcity of sports facilities and infrastructure. Renowned athletes often traveled long distances for basic facilities, while some were fortunate to be spotted by talent-seeking coaches. However, many remained undiscovered within their village confines. "India, with 1.4 billion people and basketball since 1930, hasn't made significant international impact. No NBA player, no Olympic qualification, and untapped potential to unite through basketball."
You’re not just engaging in physical activities. You’re contributing to real, tangible change.
These stories are just a glimpse of the many lives that The Sports Kartail Sport Charity has touched. We invite you to be a part of this remarkable journey of transformation.
